12 hours to change the world (In 12 stunden die Welt verändern): Workshop held by Keit Ein November 4, 2009

Keit Ein Panorama

At Werktage, Alex and myself have been attending the workshop
In 12 Stunden die Welt verändern” held by Keit Ein.

Pictured above is the final installation / mural wich the 9-man workshop decided to put up for the final presentation. The adhesive tape originally encircled loads of A4 Sheets we used to visualize parts of our conversations during those 12 hours. The sheets were then removed, so we finally left an abstract trace of our (pretty in-depth) conversations.

Some important questions in this discussion were (Including answers):
– Are we allowed to change the world? (Yes!)
– Are we allowed to leave the world as it is? (Yes!)
– Do we want to change the world? (Most propably yes, why else should we attend such a workshop?)
– What do we want to change ? (That’s a tough one.)
– How do we go about changing it ? (This can not be cleared if we don’t know what to change…)

The last point’s answer may well be the most important. To us, conversation and reflection were the most important things troughout the workshop. Sadly, the final work does not represent this to us. Even though it may be aesthetically interesting, the work itself does not embody the conversation nor does it relate to the points of our discussion. Neither will this actually change the world. If we managed to change at least each of our individual worlds by exchanging thoughts and ideas openly, why did we choose to exchange almost no thoughts with the attendants of the presentation?

Put aside the moaning, we loved the workshop, the group and Keit.
